Yeah, I’ve run into this situation too and I’m definitely not happy with that…
I understand why some usernames must be edited. Too long of a name leaves room for errors (data entry). However, a 12 character limit seems extreme.
I understand your frustration. It is convenient to use the same username for all of your accounts. It makes signing in much easier. It is a pain when you have one or two strays – and you are right, you are more likely to forget it.
I couldn’t help but chuckle a little as I read this. I completely understand your frustration. I had to buy a little address book to keep track of all the ridiculous usernames and passwords I have had to come up with over the years. I file them under the name of the website so I can easily find them later.
My job at work requires me to change my password every 3 months. It drives me crazy because I have so many old passwords stuck in my head and it wastes my time having to remember which one I am using now.
I wish there was an easier way with user names. it is no unusual to find your desired username taken, so you have no choice but to add some lame number. at any rate there is still a lot of room for improvement in the cyber world.
That’s funny dude, I remember before my username included my middle name, so you can imagine how long that is. there’s so few choices these day, everyone seems to have your preferred name first.
