My name is Paul Browning and I am the creator of this site and the Million Dollar Company concept. Before I go into that perhaps I should tell you a bit about me.

I started off working as a police officer in the UK and did that role as a patrol officer, sergeant and then detective from 1988 until I left in the summer of 2000. I loved the job but in the last two years the paperwork had become unbearable and now, instead of helping people we were forced into meeting endless government targets which wasn’t why I joined. We even  had to give people tickets when we would have just warned them in the past.

I started in IT in June 2000 working on a helpdesk. I then moved to a job with Cisco systems and then was made redundant in 2002. I started my first company at this time and I was completely naive about everything related to running a company:

It was a steep learning curve and I must have spent about 500 hours and $20,000 going on courses and paying for professional advice but after a couple of years and nearly going bust a few times I finally got the hang of it. I then put myself on more courses to learn all of the above and put it all into practice. By the time I sold my company in 2008 it was making a great monthly profit but more than that:

• We could predict future sales with high accuracy
• All admin was dealt with by freelancers
• Our marketing message worked very well
• Our website was #1 on Google and converted to sales
• I worked 2-4 only days per month
• All my sales and admin were handed by other people

The business was pretty much working on auto-pilot with clear systems and procedures in place. Once our customers booked on the course, all materials and enquiries were dealt with by our fulfilment and remote PAs who also followed up to get feedback and referrals. It left me plenty of free time to enjoy with my friends and family.

I could take my daughter swimming at 1pm, go to Starbucks with my wife when it was nice and quiet or go to boxing and grappling lessons which is one of my passions. Until I had put systems into my business I was too frightened to leave my office (spare bedroom) in case a customer called.
